A group from our Church Family will depart by bus from the Church on the morning of the 18th to witness the the Ground Blessing Ceremony for the reconstruction. St. Nicholas was the only house of worship destroyed on 9/11, and on the 18th, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios will lead the faithful in prayers marking the beginning of construction as the little Church of St. Nicholas is resurrected.

The bus will depart from our Church at 8:45 AM. We will stop at the Starbucks in Manorville to pick up some of our members who live west of the Church. We plan to arrive in Lower Manhattan by 11:00 AM, and will be dropped off on Church Street, between Cedar and Liberty (two blocks away from St. Nicholas). We will walk to the entrance of the site at the intersection of Liberty and Greenwich Streets. The Archdiocese has advised us to where hard-soled, close-toed shoes, as the ceremony will take place in a construction site. Further, we have been asked not to carry any large bags or packages, as they may pose a security issue.

His Eminence will lead us in the prayer service, which will be attended by the family members of 9/11 victims, survivors and heroes of 9/11, the members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and faithful from throughout the Direct Archdiocesan District and around the Country.

If you would like to join us and participate in this historic moment, please respond to this email or call the Church office. Space is limited and seats will be given on a first come first serve basis. Thank you and God bless.
