Over the next two weeks we will be offering Paraklesis services on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings in observance of the Fast Period for the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, our feast day. Paraklesis service will be held at 6:30 PM on August 1, 4, 6, 8, 11 and 13.
The Paraklesis is a supplicatory prayer service in which we ask the Virgin Mary, our parish’s patron saint, to heal our illnesses, ease our difficulties and bring us salvation through her prayers to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a beautiful and powerful service and it is our hope that you will join us and experience the strength and grace that come from honoring the Theotokos and glorifying her Son and our God.
If you have never attended the Paraklesis service and are curious about what the service is like, you can hear a sample of Paraklesis sung beautifully in English at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_6e9T1FpG8
Come and join us on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings as we observe the fast, and prepare for the celebration of our Feast Day!
The liturgical schedule for our Feast Day Celebration will be as follows: Feast Day Vespers will be held at 7:00 PM on the 14th of August, with a reception offered by our Philoptochos afterward. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on August 15th, The Dormition of the Virgin Mary, at 10:00 AM, preceded by Orthros at 8:30. A community celebration and luncheon will follow Divine Liturgy.
